UPDATE 22 November 2018 :

Uploading pics to keep this gallery alive, but not in any particular order. For those who hasn’t gotten their drawings yet, I’m already at work on them and should be done soon. Thanks for your usual patience.

***

I also have some COMMISSION INFO UPDATE to announce:

I will be limiting commissions to single and 2-character drawings only. This is to help me manage my schedule better and make turnover time faster. I’m also adjusting the cost of additional characters so that I can be flexible in the pricing, which is $20 to $30 per additional character, depending on the complexity of the second character, or how much of the character would be on display on the drawing. Second characters partly obscured by another character, for example, would be for as low $20 each, but second characters practically in full display would be $30.  The rest of the cost and terms stay. Also, if you’ve already contacted me and talked to me about a commission prior to this post, the old terms an still apply. :)

I’ve decided to keep my base price of $35 for now until at least I manage my schedule better and also to help you manage your expectations, not only with the quality to expect from me based on that particular price point, but as to turnaround time as well.  For more details on how to get a commission from me, please refer to the old information below. Other than the price adjustments and commission type changes, they’re still pretty much up to date.

Thanks for your continued patronage

Oh, I’m using Mobile DA mostly these days so I might not be able to answer to comments on pics or on my page, but I do check Notes from time to time. Also, I think DA visits via mobile does not register in the ‘last visit’ info so if it says my last visit was xx weeks ago, it’s not true. :D
For better response time (usually, when I’m not very busy working offline), please send inquiries or commission requests to my email at karolding@gmail.com.

UPDATE 01 June 2018 :

Despite the title, yes, I'm still doing commissions. Commission types, pricing and terms basically the same as described below under the earlier updates and the original journal post. For more information or inquiries please email me at karolding@gmail.com or send me a note here in DA.

Summary of commission types currently offered and respective prices:

Regular commission (full or half-body with non-complicated background): $35 (Add $20 for each additional character/vehicles/big specific devices/pets in a drawing).
Single Character on Gray/White/Transparent Background (full or half-body, but bg could be another flat color): $30
Headshot/Portrait (head or bust only with plain or some textured background): $20

More details on each below.

UPDATE 09 May 2017 (New Commission Type):

I've been churning out full-blown pics for a while now and, for a change, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a new type of commission with full (or half-body), single character on gray/white background only? This is to add some variety in what I do and therefore give my creative muscle some rest by just drawing characters simple poses without having to deal with scenery. This would also cost a bit less so would be great for anyone with tight budget.

Sample below:

[Please see gallery for a bunch of samples. Seems my journal no longer supports thumbnails.]

Cost of one would be $30 USD. You and any one of your friends can also get 2 (or more) of these for $25 USD each (promo period over, sorry). Note, though, that this is for single character drawings only so no additional characters, vehicles, droids, pet, big machinery, furniture, etc., in the same pic. Guns and personal accessories are fine. Also, no variants for this type (such as alternative armor, helmet/non-helmet). Just simple character drawing. :)

For inquiries or to commission me, please send me a note or email me at KaRolding@gmail.com.
PS: Regular commissions and headshots/portraits also still available! (see below).

Original Post 08 March 2017 (Commission Info):

* Single Character drawing (with simple background): $35 USD
* Additional characters in the same drawing: $20/each.
* Vehicles, mechs, animals/creatures, and complex machinery, weaponry, etc.: add $20/each
* Complex backgrounds (As a general rule, I won't do them, but ask me anyway as it might be something I'm capable of doing. Price dependent on complexity).
* NEW: Headshot (single character only): $20 USD
* Other special requests (Ask me. I'll see what I can do).
* I may add to the price if the piece or character is extraordinarily complex to draw, or if it requires me to provide a significant amount of creative input into the character's design.

What I'll do:

* Drawings of original character(s)
* Drawings of existing/mainstream character(s) from different media (i.e., fanart)

What I can't/won't do:

Porn (nothing against it; just can't do it)
* Extreme gore (but really, really extreme. I don't mind Deadpool movie-level carnage).
* Comic-book pages/sequentials
* Character concept/design (from scratch) and/or turnarounds.
* Drawings of real people (can't do likeness)
* BDSM (again, nothing against it, but those cordage and tying techniques are often too complex for me to wrap my head around. I'm fine with DID, though)
* Work that would entail way lots of back-and-forth exchanges with regards the drawing. Edits, even minor ones on the finished work, are fine, but art director-level direction is probably not my thing, at least with private commissions. The more streamlined I can keep the work process, the better I can stick to my current price points.
* Others that I'm forbidden, either by law or fear of lawsuit, to draw.

What I'll need from you:

* A short description of what you want to see in the drawing (please be clear and concise). Providing details such as hair color, eye color, age and other basic characteristics would be helpful as well.
* Visual references (for characters, weapons, vehicles, etc.).

If interested, please contact me either through DA Note or e-mail at karolding@gmail.com. As soon as we have agreed on the commission, I'll give you a rough estimate on when I can start work on the commission. Sometimes things don't go as planned though, so if you think you would need a drawing on a certain date of if the commission will have a strict deadline then, in that case, might not be the best man for the job. My schedule these days are somewhat erratic, though I try my best to deliver as fast as I can.

I can accept payment through PayPal (will provide the info during the exchanges). You may send payment after you get the rough draft, or upfront if you are so inclined.

Please note that this is for private commissions only. If the purpose of the drawing is commercial, please ask first so we can negotiate a different set of terms and rates.

If you have questions, please feel free to Note or E-mail me.

Thanks!

Last visit was 13 weeks ago according to my profile page before i logged in. Darn what a waste of DA sub. Let me just slowly settle back in here. Hope to be posting again, replying to notes/comments, and browsing for more art soon.

Meantime, sorry for the lack of activity.

* Complex backgrounds (As a general rule, I won't do complex backgrounds, but ask me anyway as it might be something I'm capable of doing. Price dependent on complexity).

Apologies for once again dropping off the grid for a while there. I got a short-term job with a non-profit org, working with folk in the rural communities. I know I should have found time to check my e-mail, but I was mostly community-based and there was no internet most of the time, and the job itself was a tiring—albeit immensely satisfying—assignment. Also, to be honest, they paid well and I at least don’t have to worry about bills in the next few months so that even though it was a very short-term contract, it was all worth it.

That said, I will have to ‘reboot’ my commission time-table again. I’m ‘free’ for the time being as the company won’t be hiring again anytime soon so I can now go back to focusing on commissions. I hope still have commission work to go back to by this time, though, because I can totally understand if you’ve become extremely impatient and decide to pull out from the queue. Obviously, I still have a lot to learn about doing commissions but I’m working on it as I hope to make this thing full-time as soon as I’m more comfortable with my skill level and ability to generate income from this line of work (And, to be honest, I’m getting to old for rural community work).

Anyway, I will be changing things a bit with regards my commission process, but mostly with regards accepting payment. Given my unstable employment status my schedule will mostly be erratic so I can’t afford to accept upfront payment for commissions as they’re might be a chance that my commission work will be derailed on occasions. I’d hate to have you guys waiting for drawings you have already paid for. So right now, I will only ask you to send funds AFTER I finish the drawing you ordered. I know it’s risky as a practice, but I rather take that risk than to be constantly be thinking of keeping money I have not actually earned yet.

That said, my priority at the moment is to catch up with my e-mail, notes, and rough drafts. Then back to the regular schedule. Sort of.

Updates

2 min read
Hi all, sorry for the lack of updates. Things have been crazy from my end the past few weeks, the least of which was an internet problem that left me offline over the weekend (something not uncommon in these parts, unfortunately).  I was also invited to a couple of job interviews which I had been optimistic about, but sadly I didn’t get either job. I was kind of bummed about it for a while, but, anyway, like I keep telling (or rationalizing to) myself: being out of work means at least I get to have more time to draw, and it makes me happy at least that I got art to fall back on in times like these. I haven’t given up yet as I’m sure the there’s a company out there that’s going to be needing my particular skill-set soon. If not, well, I can always go into a small retail business or something. :D

So, anyway, the good news is that I will still be able to devote a lot of time to commissions for the time being. The bad news is that all the excitement of the past few weeks slowed down my output significantly and now my timetable is off by approximately 10-12 days. My apologies to those who have been waiting. I might need to close for commissions temporarily—probably for a week--until I’m all caught up with the ones in my present list.

I’m also thinking of taking a page from other artists who post the list of commissions in their journal so that aside from providing ETAs, you may refer to the list to know how I’m progressing. I’ll figure out the best way to do and update my journal as soon as I’ve done so. Meantime, I’m off to check my DA notes.

Talk to you guys again soon.
